Mobility for all – using public transport with impairments

The presentation talks about how to make public transport truly inclusive with the use of innovative technology. For example, when designing passenger information, it needs to be addressed that passengers of hard-of-hearing will not hear the announcements, visually impaired will not see displays and for example wheelchair users normally have no way of knowing if there is space for them in a bus. Another example is to have an assistive technology to help visually impaired to virtually hail a bus. Only when the disabled passengers feel that public transport is not only accessible but also inclusive, they will be willing to use public transport alone and maybe even make the shift from paratransit to fixed route services.
