Mienke is currently a PhD student in Transport Economics at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. She also holds a Master’s in Transport Economics through which she developed software to determine the feasibility of ancillary services in the passenger transport industry.
Mienke has experience working with cities, local governments, and private clients on public transport planning projects, both road-based and aviation-related. Working on the largest BRT system in Africa, MyCiti with its disability-friendly leg Dial-a-Ride, has offered her the opportunity to identify room for its improvement both from a system, contracting and operations perspective.
