Matt joined Arriva in 2017 as Head of Fleet Management, became Zero Emission Institute (ZEI) Director in January 2022 and is responsible for setting the direction for Arriva’s strategic approach to delivering zero emission and low carbon bus fleets to support PTA’s achieve their decarbonisation and air quality targets.
The ZEI acts as a central hub of knowledge and expertise for all Arriva businesses. The ZEI forges relationships with external stakeholders including manufacturers, infrastructure providers and energy suppliers to create the right environment for a seamless transition to zero-emission vehicles. Matt engages with academic institutions, engineers and industrial designers to ensure Arriva’s at the forefront of innovation but also to ensure our commercial expertise is factored into future thinking.
Before joining Arriva, Matt held a number of senior roles within the transport sector, mainly focused on fleet procurement strategies, fleet optimisation, utilisation and life cycle management driving improved business performance.
