Fabrizio Gelsomino is a highly experienced Rail Operations Manager with railway management roles stretching back to 2001. He has extensive international experience across a broad spectrum of rail mobilization and rail operations.
He developed his career in the ATM Group, Milan’s PTO since 2001. As to his activity in metro operations and Metro Control Room, from 2018 to 2022 he worked as Operations Manager in the Copenhagen Metro (Denmark), operated by ATM through its subsidiary company Metro Service A/S.
In the ATM Group he has been responsible for training, Line 1, 2 and 3 control room and finally Line 5, the first automated driverless line.
In Copenhagen he followed the mobilization period and start-up of the M3 Cityringen opened in 2019, and the M4, opened in 2020.
Since January 2023 he is back in ATM as Operations Director for Line 4 and Line 5, the automated lines of Milan’s metro.

Discover Milan's latest metro automated line, the M4
In November 2022, ATM inaugurated the first six stations of its latest automated metro line M4, connecting Linate airport to the station Milano Dateo. Two more stations will be opened in early summer 2023, connecting the city centre to the airport in 12 minutes. By the end of 2024, the whole automated metro line M4 will be completed, connecting the East of Milan to the West, with 47 trains running along 21 stations spread over 15 kilometres. During the years and months before the inauguration, ATM carried out a series of activities to ensure perfect operation of the new automated metro line M4.
