Carmela Canonico holds a master’s in Research and Innovation management, and has an extensive experience in transport automation, start-ups, the social aspects of transport and project management with a special focus on research project.
Passionate about transport and the challenges that it brings to society, she is currently the Safety and Security Manager at UITP where she manages the Security Committee and several EU project on public transport security that aim at studying, assessing and promoting innovative approaches for enhanced Public Transport security.
Carmela is responsible for leading, coordinating and contributing to UITP knowledge and research activities, and to promote the importance of security in public transport, advocating for security to be embedded in the corporate structure and culture of public transport networks.
