TMB operates different automated metro lines across the city. This technical visit will showcase Line 9 and Line 10, partially in operation. These lines will by-pass Barcelona’s city centre, connecting with the rest of the lines and improving the efficiency of the current metropolitan transport network. When finished, it will be the longest automated metro line in Europe with more than 47 km. These new lines are innovative in terms of infrastructure design and operation.
The visit will also showcase TMB’s Metro Control Centre, which operates all year round, 24 hours a day, using the latest technology to ensure the smooth running of the metro network on both its conventional lines (L1, L2, L3, L4 and L5) and its driverless automated lines (L9, L10 and L11). All the operating infrastructure of the metro network is managed centrally from here: the movement of trains, station assistance, power management, customer information and network security.
