“Why can’t everybody just get along” has been a red thread question during my life. Fortunate to have lived and worked in the Netherlands, the US, the UK, Japan and Belgium, I was able to experience different cultures and traditions, which made me more aware of my own (and my society’s) values and norms. This has well prepared me for the many challenges that I’m facing in my job as a diversity manager for STIB-MIVB, the public transport company of Brussels. In this job I’m responsible for the Diversity and Inclusion strategy, based on analysis, and make sure that this strategy is implemented. We focus on diversity in gender (attracting and retaining women), age, language, ethnicity, and handicap.
Previously I have worked in the private sector; first in Banking, then in Talent Management and Leadership Development.
