Mathijs is Product Manager for the activities of Thales Cyber Defense Solutions (CSD). In the dynamic mobility market, Mathijs and his colleagues help Transport Authorities and Operators to innovate their mobility ecosystem with Cyber Security as an opportunity rather than a limitation. ‘Cyber Security by Design’ is key in this concept. Mathijs knows the Transportation and Mobility world like the back of his hand. He worked as service designer and product manager for projects and solutions in Transport Ticketing and Rail Safety for many years. For example on the Dutch OV-chipkaart system. His personal drive is to contribute to seamless and safe public transit systems that can truly replace car ownership.

From Crisis to Catalyst: Building a Cyber Security Framework that goes beyond protection
BREAKING NEWS: European train services down by massive cyber attack. Millions of passengers affected. Damage expected over several hundred million euros. Cyber threats can lead to headlines like this in the future. In fact the headline could be much worse when we talk about attacks that impact the safety of our public transit networks. The mobility and public transit industry is in the middle of its digital transformation. In this speech I will present a framework how organisations like mobility providers can deal with cyber threats without losing their innovative capabilities. 1. Cyber Security by Design diving into IEC 62443 2. Preventing cyber attacks by staying into control (e.g. cyber threat landscaping, monitoring) 3. Detect and Respond – through a Converged SOC The focus on the speech will be protection of the specific transport OT (operational technology) environment rather than generic IT.
