Gershwin Fortune is an Urban Transport Specialist with 23 years’ integrated transport planning experience, predominantly in local government. He holds a BSc Civil Engineering degree from the University of Cape Town, and master’s in engineering from Stellenbosch University. He has had the unique opportunity to be involved in all facets of the public transport life cycle.
In 2007, he was involved in the inception stages of the City of Cape Town’s BRT project where he provided technical system planning & modelling leadership and guidance towards the successful roll-out of the MyCiTi BRT Phase 1 project.
At the end of his tenure at the city, he was the Director Operations where he managed the day-to-day operations of the Cape Town’s MyCiTi BRT service. In June 2021, he established his own Transport Planning Consultancy where he now provides global expert advice on integrated and sustainable transport planning.
