Due to its full programme of congress sessions and large exhibition, the 2017 UITP Summit will feature expert speakers and participants from the industry’s leading organisations, many of which are engaged in cutting-edge projects all over the world.

Here is a glimpse of just some of the interesting global projects and speakers that will be covered during the event:

Canada

Recently, the federal government announced an 11-year commitment to invest 25.3 billion Canadian dollars in public transport infrastructure throughout the country. This amount is intended to help decrease commuting times, reduce carbon pollution and support the economy.

Kuala Lumpur

The MRT SBK Line, an ongoing urban rail project, is currently planned to reach full operational status by mid-2017. The line is forecast to transport between 400,000 to 500,000 daily passengers within the Malaysian capital region.

Riyadh

A large scale, multimodal public transport project is just underway for this fast-growing Middle Eastern city. The plan includes six metro lines totalling 176km, three Bus Rapid Transport lines, as well as several hundred kilometres worth of intra-community lines and feeder routes.

London

Construction on Crossrail 2, a 70km railway that will serve London and Southeast England, is scheduled to start in 2020 with service planned to start in the early 2030’s. In addition to alleviating road traffic congestion, the project is expected to enable new housing and bolster the local economy by supporting hundreds of thousands of new jobs.
