Randy Clarke is the General Manager and CEO of the WMATA since July 2022. As both a leader and a daily customer of the service, Randy leverages his firsthand experience to drive innovation and improve Metro for its customers. Previously, he served as the President and CEO of Capital Metro in Austin, Texas, where he played a pivotal role in securing one of the largest voter-approved transit referendums in US history, known as Project Connect. This initiative resulted in a significant capital program investment of billions of dollars for CapMetro. Randy has also held prominent positions in public transportation, including Vice President of Operations and Member Services for APTA and various leadership roles at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. Randy, originally from Nova Scotia, Canada, holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History from Acadia University and a master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Southern Maine.
