How big data can prevent thermal runaway

As the adoption of electric buses accelerates, there have been unfortunate instances in which Zero Emission Buses (ZEBs) burn due to thermal runaway in batteries. Luckily this can be detected and prevented by fleet operators if they are equipped with the right tools. In particular, software investment will be critical in the roll-out of ZEBs. Charging management software and smart charging capabilities will allow bus operators to run smarter services, and ensure the safer charging of ZEBs to prevent fires. In this expo session, ChargePoint will share experiences from building global smart charging solutions for the past 15 years. They will cover best practices, as well as the tools available to PTOs. They will also show data gathered from a real case, which highlights the telltale signs of a battery overheating, using the data captured ahead of the battery catching fire.
