Dr Bull leads a technical team of policy and research staff working on the cross-cutting agenda of increasing global levels of physical activity through more active transport as well as through community sport and every-day activities.

WHO develops global guidance and policy tools to help countries implement the policy recommendations outlined in the WHO Global Action Plan on Physical Activity 2018-2030: More active people for a healthier world. Increasing walking, cycling and use of public transport is a priority agenda and requires safe, affordable and accessible networks and services. The recent WHO Global Status Report on Physical Activity 2022 revealed major gaps and slow progress. Dr Bull was awarded a Member of the British Empire (MBE) for services to global public health in 2014.
