Dr. Michael Roth is heading the product strategy bus at MAN Truck & Bus SE. With his team, he sets the course for future bus developments at MAN Truck & Bus SE – from electromobility and digitalization to automated driving and vehicle concepts of the future. Therefore, he brings his passion for innovation and the development of new products, which has accompanied him his entire career. As a mechanical and industrial engineer, he completed his PhD in product development, shared his knowledge and passion as an independent consultant and speaker with companies and universities in various fields, and is now driving innovation in the bus sector at MAN Truck & Bus SE.

MAN’s journey towards automated city buses
The speech presents MAN’s approach towards automated driving. It introduces MAN’s understanding of automated driving in city buses and the connected eco-system. It points out technological challenges and explains MAN’s approach to solve them. Moreover, it shares the current status and findings of two pilot projects, which are currently under development at MAN in close cooperation with research partners, city authorities as well as public transport operators.
