Wolfram Sparber is active in applied research and industry activities in different fields of sustainable energy development and e-mobility since 15 years.

He is heading the Institute for Renewable Energy at Eurac Research since it’s foundation in 2005. The Institute accounted in 2021 well over 100 collaborators and is leading and involved in many projects EU, national and regional level.

On European level Wolfram Sparber is acting as Vice President of the Association of European Renewable Energy Research Centers (EUREC), and before that he was acting for 8 years as Vice President of the European Technology & Innovation Platform Renewable Heating and Cooling (RHC-Platform).

On the industrial side he is acting since 2019 as Vice Chairman of the Advisory Board of a the energy utility Alperia spa and before that as Chairman of the Executive Board. Alperia spa was founded in 2016 by merging two regional energy actors SEL spa and AEW spa and included 2016 over 40 daughter companies and 1000 collaborators.

In the time frame from 2011 to 2015 he was President of the Board of SEL spa, including presidency of several daughter companies and interim CEO for 1,5 years.

Wolfram Sparber studied Applied Physics at Graz University of Technology (Austria) and Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (Spain). He concluded his studies at Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems where he spent 2 years in different positions.

Since working in management positions, he continuously invested in specific further education with different business schools such as Bocconi SDA (Italy), Stanford Graduate School of Business (California) and Malik Management Zentrum St. Gallen (Switzerland).
