Automation in trams and trains: Optimising capacity and operations
UNIFE, the association representing the European rail supply industry, and UNIFE members are supporting the digitalisation of rail transport in order to increase rail capacity, reliability and attractiveness. Today, the deployment of ERTMS, the development of FRMCS and the on-going research and innovation work on Automatic/Autonomous Train Operation in the Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking are of utmost importance for the digital transformation of rail transport. A Research & Innovation (R&I) programme like Europe’s Rail is also key for the competitiveness of the European rail supply industry. This session will be the opportunity for UNIFE to give some highlights on ERTMS, FRMCS, cybersecurity and to present some R&I projects with the involvement of UNIFE. It will also be the occasion to discuss about the work launched in the System Pillar of the Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking on the rail system architecture and the links with urban rail.
